Everyone deserves to be happy in life. To feel on track. Focused. And to make sure that they are doing the things that they want with their lives. Yet, very few really are. It’s not because they’re sad or they are in really bad or difficult situations (although some are). It’s usually more because they just are not being more intentional. They might have some idea of what they want to achieve in life, but they’re just not going after it. And this is usually where the problem lies. Because having dreams are one thing. But unless you act on them. Unless you plan to go after them. Unless you set goals, which are really just intentions to make those dreams come true, then your dreams will only ever exist in your mind. And this is where the idea of personal growth comes in.
To a lot of people, personal growth will mean different things. They will see it as a way to fix themselves. And because they do not feel broken or do not want to admit that they could be better, they won’t want to deal with it. Yet, all personal growth (or development) really is, is you choosing to become the best possible version of yourself. To take who you are today and to just make yourself better. To be kinder, smarter, more present, grateful and giving. And who wouldn’t want to do that?
Now, if you know that you’re ready to push yourself and to become the best possible version of yourself, here are the ten areas that you might like to focus on.
The very first thing that you should focus on here, is your mind. Because if you are not in control of your thoughts and how your mind works, then you need to change that. You need to take back control. You need positivity. So, why don’t you improve your mindset as the first thing? Because, if you can be more intention, grateful, positive, and purposeful every single day, the you are going to always be able to grow.
Then, you’re going to want to work on something for your body. And not because of how it looks or what size you are, but because you want to feel great. You want energy and to feel strong and healthy and content in your own skin. So work out what your exercise goals are, and find a way of moving more than just fits for you.
To complement that quite nicely, you’re then going to want to look at what you’re eating. And don’t go on a diet or restrict yourself here. Instead, you need to understand health and nutrition. And then you need to try and add things into your diet, yes – add IN, so that you’re feeding your body what it needs. Because when you can nail your nutrition, you are going to feel better, look better, and be healthier in general too.
And then, you need to walk away from stress. If you can work on yourself in a way that allows you to stay stress-free most of the time, you will win. Always! So work on your own methods of relaxation so that you can find a good balance in life.
If you want to be happy in life, then you need to make sure that you are working on your relationships. Because they are not just going to work themselves out. You have to make a relationship work and you have to make sure that you are actively working to be a better partner. So, ask yourself, what can you do to keep developing in this area?
Another really big area that you might want to focus on, is money. Because money does make the world go round. And you need it to feel secure. So if you do not have enough, then you’ll want to work on changing that. Maybe a career in blogging on the side could give you the cash injection you need? Or should you work for a promotion and pay rise combo? Or maybe you want to get a second job? Just make sure that you work to increase your income.
So then the next thing is, you might want to think a little more about your career and what you can do to make big waves here. But you just need to figure out what steps that you need to take, so that you can develop in your career.
And you’re always going to want to make sure that you can be happy with your family too. Because you only get one of them. No matter what your family looks like, or whether they are blood or not, if you can work on your family situation, you will forever be happy.
As a step on from that, you’ve then got your friendships to think about. Because, like your romantic relationships, you need to work on your friendships too. You need to nurture them and make time for them. So think about how you can add more value to your friendships so that they are forever in a state of growth.
And then finally, you’re definitely going to want to think ahead to your future too. Because if there is anything that you want to work on or anything that you want to achieve in the world or in the future, if you want to actually get there, you need to do it now. Or plan for it now. Because if you wait, you’re only ever going to be that many months or years away. So, always make sure that you are thinking about what you’re working for, and actively taking steps today to get there.
