Balzac’s Coffee in Toronto, Canada
While I love me some Starbucks, I also love to visit the local coffee shops because you just never know what you’ll find and how good coffee can actually be! :) So of course while we were in Canada, I wanted to visit a local establishment and Balzac’s in the Distillery District was sure a gem that I found! :)
Honoré de Balzac is one of history’s consummate coffee aficionados. His prodigious output was famously fueled by copious cups of strong, black coffee consumed throughout the night and this is exactly who Balzac’s is named after! :) The founder of Balzac’s, discovered a kindred spirit in Monsieur Balzac and his genuine passion for coffee and upon graduating with her university degree, she immersed herself in authentic French culture passing many enchanting afternoons in the Grand cafés of Paris. Therefore she was inspired to bring this sophisticated celebration of coffee and social tradition back home to Canada where Balzac’s café was opened in Stratford, Ontario in 1996.
When I visited Balzac’s, I ordered the Iced Coffee (which was amazing) and then also took a bag home to enjoy in Ohio! I purchased the Ethiopian Yirgachefe Stout Roast which is intensely flavored, with citrus and berry characteristics! It’s so delicious that I actually ordered a box just last week with three more bags! :)
Love coffee? Then this is definitely a stop you’ll have to make in Toronto! :) They have a few locations to check out, so you won’t have an excuse! :)
