We all know that losing weight isn’t easy, but I’ve found that if you make it fun, losing weight wouldn’t be considered a chore. About two years ago I realized that I had begun to put on quite a bit of weight. I’m a tiny girl to begin with, but I was noticing that my shirts were becoming tight, as well as my pants…and I had been buying the same size for about 10 years. It was May 2011 when I finally decided to do something about my weight and the way I was eating.
So what did I do?
The first thing that I did was download MyFitnessPal app for my Android to keep track of my food intake. As I have said before, MyFitnessPal is one of my favorite apps for the Android! Anyways, studies have shown that the benefits of keeping track of the food you eat and the activity you do, helps you successfully take weight off and keep it off. What’s the best part about MyFitnessPal? It’s 100% FREE! :)
MyFitnessPal also just partnered up with food-service company Compass Group. Now Compass Group’s large database of nutritional info — featuring menu items from schools, corporate cafes, sports arenas, and more — is available within MyFitnessPal‘s MASSIVE database.
Once I started seeing what I was putting into my body and how many calories I was taking in, I realized that I had a problem. Since it was almost summer time, it was the PERFECT moment to take this seriously. I had fruits and vegetables at my finger tips that I needed to take advantage of; and that’s what I did. I also weighed in about once a week, sometimes once every two weeks. The best part? Weight starting coming off VERY quick once I set a calorie goal! I loved it and I loved how I was feeling!
Here I am, almost two years later and almost 20 pounds lighter; not to mention, I’m about 2-4 sizes smaller! :) You know what? I also do not drink “pop” any more. Yes, it’s true; I pretty much only drink water and coffee. This happened about July of 2012 when I had a “pop” for the first time in quite some time, and about 10 minutes later I felt sick to my stomach.
I know you need to also add in exercise when you begin to lose weight, so since it was summertime, I swam, a lot. I love to swim, so this was no biggy for me. :) And when swim season was over, I danced. Yep, danced. :) I LOVE the Just Dance series for the Wii and the Wii U. They’re SO much fun. There’s about 9-10 different versions of this game. Before Christmas I bought the new Wii U for myself, so I immediately bought Just Dance 4. And I must say, this is the BEST one of the series! :) It contains over 40 all-new chart-topping hits with the coolest dances. The game also features Battle mode, Just Sweat mode, Duet Mode, Mash-up Mode, and Puppet Master Mode.
What are my favorite songs to dance to from the 2013 version?
- Cher Lloyd ft. Astro – “Want U Back”
- A.K.A – “Hot For Me”
- Justin Bieber feat. Nicki Minaj – “Beauty and a Beat”
- Flo Rida – “Good Feeling”
- Hit The Electro Beat – “We No Speak Americano”
- Carly Rae Jepsen – “Call Me Maybe”
- Jennifer Lopez ft. Pitbull – “On The Floor”
- Maroon 5 ft. Christina Aguilera – “Moves Like Jagger”
- Nicki Minaj – “Super Bass”
- One Direction – “What Makes You Beautiful”
- P!nk – “So What”
- Rihanna – “Disturbia”
- Rihanna ft. Jay-Z – “Umbrella”
You can also create a Dancer Card that you personalize to check out all your awesome dance stats (favorite tracks, best scores, and challenges).
I’m not a dancer at parties, I don’t go out dancing, but if you ask me to play Just Dance, I’m there!
The best part about it? You burn about 6 calories per minute when playing! :)
So in conclusion, if you make losing weight fun, you’ll be back into your bikini by summer! :)
