Justin Timberlake – The 20/20 Experience album review

Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience album review

I PROBABLY could have reviewed this The 20/20 Experience album while ago, however…I REALLY wanted to listen to it before I gave the proper review.  :)  Although, I must say that I immediately fell in love with it (no surprise there)!!  :)

Yes, I was an *NSYNC fangirl back in my day, therefore I pretty much follow the guys and support whatever they do.  So when Justin FINALLY announced that he was releasing an album, you can only imagine my excitement! :)

The 20/20 Experience is the third solo album from Justin and was released on March 15, 2013.  All songs are written and composed by Justin, Timothy Mosley, Jerome “J-Roc” Harmon and James Fauntleroy.   The first single released was “Suit & Tie,” which peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100.  I will 100% admit that when this song was released, I was a little worried about what kind of album Justin would release.  While I liked “Suit & Tie,” I didn’t LOVE it like I really wanted to.  It wasn’t something that I could play on repeat all day long.  However when Justin was on SNL and premiered his second single, “Mirrors,” I was SUPER EXCITED!!  :)  I LOVED this song and wished he would have released it first!

I completely agree with Justin when he stated in a few interviews that the album “goes a lot of different directions. I think there’s probably a little bit of what was reminiscent on the first album and then a little bit of what’s reminiscent of the second album, and then some new stuff.”  Honestly, there’s a song for everyone and it’s definitely that will get you moving in your seat!  :)  The album’s lyrics mostly deal with the theme of romance.

“Pusher Love Girl” is the first song on the album and is over eight-minutes long.  I think it’s a great song to start the album with and reminds me of a little of the *NSYNC days.  :)

The third song on the album is “Don’t Hold the Wall.”  It’s clearly a Timbaland/Timberlake duet, but I could actually do without Timbaland in it.

“Strawberry Bubblegum” is probably my favorite song on the album simply because I hear a lot of *NSYNC’s “Pop” in it.  :)  It’s a very catchy, dance-y, smooth song.  :)

“Tunnel Vision” is very “Cry Me a River”-ish.

“Spaceship Coupe” is pretty catchy and seems like it could have been very old-school, 90s R&B.

“That Girl” is not one of my favorite songs on the album.  Like “Suit & Tie,” I feel like the style doesn’t suit Justin.

“Let the Groove Get In” is probably my second favorite song on the album.  When he sang this song on Jimmy Fallon’s show, I immediately loved it!  It’s TOTALLY catchy and makes you, well…groove.  :)

“Blue Ocean Floor” is a very cute song and shows Justin’s range…it’s a pretty song.

If you bought the album at Target, you were presented with TWO special additions, “Dress On” and “Body Count.”  “Dress On” in my opinion is the better bonus song.

Timberlake is going on tour this summer with Jay-Z on the Legends of the Summer stadium tour to further promote the album.  I’m SAD to say that he’s not coming to Ohio?  What’s up with that Timberlake?!  :(  I honestly have not seen him in concert since *NSYNC’s last tour and am dying for some Timberlake!!

On the other hand, I can look forward to the “second half” of The 20/20 Experience that will tentatively be released in November!!  :)

Did you get this album?  If so, what did you think??
