No Sew Blankets Tutorial
These No Sew Blankets were quite the hit in our family this past year for birthdays and Christmas gifts! I think everyone received one, except for mom and I, probably because we were the ones that made them! LOL You can however purchase those No Sew Blanket kits from your local craft store, however they’re about double the price as what you would pay making everything from scratch! Seriously! I couldn’t believe it… They’re super easy to make, but they are time consuming, depending on the size of your blanket. Mom and I could complete an adult sized blanket in about 1.5 to 2 hours. We then made a couple of child sized blankets for my nieces in about 1 to 1.5 hours.
- 2 different patterns of no pill fleece fabric (1.5-2.5 yards, depending on the blanket size)
- a ruler
- 4×4″ cardstock square
Lay both of the fleece designs out on top of each other, insides facing in and outsides facing out. Fleece stretches slightly and odds are, your two patterns are not the same size. This is your time to trim them up and shape the blanket how you’d like.
After you’ve trimmed up the blankets, make sure the two fleece are lined up on top of each other still. Take a 4×4″ cardstock, place it on each corner. and cut out a 4×4″ square. Now, on each side beside the cut square, cut 1″ strips.
Tie each of those strips into double knots. Make sure you tie each strip the exact same way when it comes to the double knots so the edges all look the same. Two sides of the fleece will be really stretchy, while the other two will be easier to tie because they are not as stretchy. I try not to make the knots TOO tight because then you run the risk of really stretching the fabric.
That’s it! :) As you can see, these blankets are Cashew approved! :)
