We’ve never made gingerbread cookies before, however with this recipe it’s really a piece of cake; not to mention that they are completely DELICIOUS! :) They’re so moist and definitely a great flavorful cookie that I think everyone will enjoy! This may now be a family favorite around the Christmas holiday season! :) Who knew a little cookie could pack so much flavor?! ENJOY!
Old Fashion Gingerbread CookiesPrint Recipe
- 2 and 1/4 c all purpose flour
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 c butter, softened
- 1 and 1/4 c sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp water
- 1/4 c molasses
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and 1 cup sugar; then beat in egg.
Add water and molasses then gradually stir in flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
Place dough into the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and remove cookie dough from refrigerator; shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll them in the sugar.
Place cookies 2-inches apart on a ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until cookies begin to “crack”.
Allow cookies to cool on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to completely cool.
