Double Date with Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson concert review

I know, I know.  I did it again.  I didn’t ACTUALLY have a date with Adam Levine, Maroon 5, and Kelly Clarkson…but it was almost just as good.  :)  This was probably my fourth time seeing Kelly Clarkson in concert and my second time seeing Maroon 5 and I have to admit, it was kind of amazing!  :)  Who ever came up with the idea of the two touring together was a genius, because it was a fantastic show.

Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson

This was the first stop of the second leg of the tour, so they had a few weeks break before, and I think they all came back ready to go!

I saw them at First Midwest Amphitheater in Chicago (which I had never been to before) and the seat options I was dealt with was a story in itself.  There actually aren’t too many good seats in this venue, which is a little surprising to me.  I guess if you’re going just to listen to music and not watch a show, you’ll be fine.  But if you want to see something, you better be prepared to fork out some money for good seats.  We ended up being in the LAST row of the actual seating area and could not see a thing once everyone started standing up…but luckily we were able to move up farther and could sit down the whole time and STILL see…even if sometimes it was just looking at the jumbo-tron.

Anyways…they had Rozzi Crane open for them, which I saw her sing with Adam at the last Maroon 5 concert; I wasn’t impressed then, and I’m still not impressed.  I think she could be good if she didn’t try too many things with each song she sang.  She was trying to show off her range, but it didn’t work out so well.  Also, we couldn’t hear/understand her when she talked to the crowd.

As for Kelly, she was AMAZING.  She always puts on a good show and makes time to talk to her fans during her breaks in between the songs.  She also knows to sing her greatest hits because everyone loves them!  I had to laugh because while we were in line to get INTO the venue, there was this group of “teenagers” behind us saying that no one was really there to see Kelly, they just wanted to see Maroon 5.  Well…when Kelly was on stage, I didn’t see one person not singing a long.  Everyone LOVED her and her performance.

Then Maroon 5 came on…and they were just as amazing!  They totally know how to get the crowd up.  But a word of warning.  When I saw them in February, there was a break towards the end of the concert where they ran off stage for a few minutes with the lights off, and then came back for 3 more songs.  They did the same thing this time, however some didn’t know/understand and starting leaving!  Don’t leave when you don’t see them bow and actually say goodbye!  LOL  The set list was pretty different at this concert compared to the one in February, but man was it good.  :)  I love how in-to-it Adam gets when he’s on stage.  You can really tell that he loves what he does.
