WICKED broadway show review at the State Theater in Ohio

WICKED at the State Theater - Playhouse Square in Cleveland, OH

I LOVE…LOVE..LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this play.  It’s SO amazing!  I was lucky enough to see it in Chicago about 6 years ago and instantly fell in love with it.  When I heard in early 2013 that it was coming to Cleveland, I HAD to go!  :)  Let me tell you, waiting all year to see a play like this was not easy!

WICKED is known as “a cultural phenomenon!”  It’s won over 50 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards.  It’s literally “Broadway’s biggest blockbuster.”

The story is basically about Wizard of Oz’s Glinda the good witch and Elphaba the “wicked” witch.  It takes place before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland.  These two witches meet in the land of Oz at the “wizard-y school.”  One is obviously born with emerald green skin while the other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular.

If you have not seen this play, please do!  I will say that while many think that it’s “kid” friendly, I’m not so sure if little kids should attend.  There are VARIOUS dark parts throughout the play that may tend to scare the little ones; however there are no curse words of any kind.

Playhouse Square is always a nice place to visit, especially around the holidays!  However it’s not exactly the place to see a concert for those in wheelchairs due to the seating (been there done that, was not happy).
