The Choice movie review
I cannot even begin to tell you how excited Nicholas Sparks movies make me. However, I do have to admit that his last two movies left me a little disappointed. I have a love/hate relationship with The Best of Me because I know Paul Walker was supposed to be the lead. And then there’s The Longest Ride. While I love Brit, she was all wrong of the lead roll in that movie. I loved Scott Eastwood in the part and I was so sadden that Brit didn’t really allow him to do his thing and for the movie to become a huge hit. So naturally when I heard that The Choice was being made (with two not so popular actors), I was a little skeptical.
Now, on the positive side, I’m not sure why, but The Choice may be one of my favs that Sparks has released. I 100%, honestly felt like I was watching a young Ryan Gosling and a young Rachel McAdams. Benjamin Walker plays Travis, while Teresa Palmer plays Gabby. The character Travis is known as a ladies’ man who thinks a serious relationship would cramp his easygoing lifestyle while Gabby is a feisty medical student who’s preparing to settle down with her long-term boyfriend (played by Tom Welling). Gabby ends up moving next door to Travis and as their bond grows, the unlikely couple must decide how far they’re willing to go to keep the hope of love alive during unforeseen circumstances.
It’s funny, it’s cute, and it’s just a great feel good movie. I do think it’s a bit different than the book, so if you’re looking for the exact same story, this isn’t it. However, that doesn’t make this a bad movie by any means (which is what many other bloggers claim).
Again, this is my opinion, but I loved it…and cannot wait to by the DVD!
