Homemade Lemon and Orange Cleaner tutorial

Homemade Lemon and Orange Cleaner tutorial

A friend of mine had made this cleaner a while ago and over the summer we thought we would try it out.  :)  I will say that I have seen on Pinterest that it works for some, but to us it REALLY smelled like vinegar and it wasn’t all that “syrup-y.”  We used it for a few days and had to dump it because the smell was a little strong.  However if the smell doesn’t bother you, then I’m sure you’ll love this.  :)

Ingredients

  • Lemon and Orange peels
  • Vinegar

Instructions

1

Save up all lemon and orange peels enough to fill up a pint jar (packed); if you can't eat or use the "meat" of these citrus fruits, then you can freeze them till you have enough.

2

Once you can fill a jar up with peels, pour enough vinegar to cover them; next, make sure the lid is on tight.

3

Do not open jar for at least two weeks; every day, shake the jar to mix all the oils around.

4

We left our's on the kitchen window sill so we wouldn't forget about it.

5

After the two weeks are up, strain out all the liquid and toss the peels.

6

Mix two parts water to one part vinegar/lemon or orange together; put it in a spray bottle and use as a cleaner.

  • I’ve always wondered about this kind of homemade cleaner, so this is good to know! Thanks for sharing your experience!

    • No problem! I’m just really sensitive to vinegar (I rarely use it in cooking), so I wasn’t a fan.

Would you use it, knowing this?
